Our Nights

Our nights have slowly faded away unfortunately.  I think we both forget about them, except our date night, sliding back into the way it was before.  However, last night we had our game night.  We played poker (I won) and then we played idiot, another card game (I won twice, Bill once)  It was so much fun as the time flew by betting through poker and seeing where the cards landed.  Slowly we will just automatically remember our nights and have insane fun with them.  Maybe next week.

Life Is Good

So it is amazing how much I have grown in the last year.  One year ago to the month I had received the worst news so far of my life.  We couldn't adopt children let alone have any ourselves.  It sent me into an even deeper depression then I was already in.  It took everything that I had to stay somewhat together.  Day after day I slowly but surely sifted my way through my life.  Poor Bill, I had been giving him my emotional scraps for at least 3 years.

I have been working on my life and my attitude for the last few months deciding that I needed to make the change for myself.  I kept thinking of things that I should do but not be able to take classes because either expense or timing.  Which bummed me out but I decided to slowly try to find other things to do.

Sadly I could find nothing that I really wanted to do.  Fortunately, for me I had a complete breakdown a month ago with Bill, thats when things really finally began to change.  Bill bought a couples devotional book that I absolutely love.  We created our nights, granted we have down them everyday like I said but it's in our minds.  I have started reading my bible every morning, I'm in Joshua, I read a chapter and then write about what I think or what happened.  I have been taking my medicine plus multivitamins everyday for a month and a half.  Bill and I have been having dinner every night together and actually pray before we eat.

So many things have changed and they have all changed for the better.  I can actually smile now and actually mean it.  I love life!

Slightly Disturbing Fun

Okay so I know that this is slightly disturbing but I have been watching RuPaul's Drag Race on Netflix.  It is has a crazy weird resemblence to America's Next Top Model but with Drag Queens.  I think that it is hilarious to watch them and so amazing to me that they are all actually really pretty women.  However, one thing that I'm not so happy about is the fact that they can do there make up 1000 times better them me.  They are incredible at it.  I almost just want to pause the screen and stare at what they are doing and watch it step by step.  Anyway, just had to say something about it.

At the Crossroads

Now I can't tell you why we are at a crossroads.  All I can tell you is that we need prayer.  We are so unsure on which way to turn.  To the left or to the right.  Each decision requires such thought on if we are doing the right thing.  However, we have been praying about this decision for a few weeks asking if the door would shut if he doesn't want us to do it or if it will continue to open.  Really at this point the door is open so far, we have one more door to go through but at this stage I think we have to believe that it is from God so far.  We have to believe that everything we need it will be provided by God.  We just have to have a little faith, step out on the ledge and leap.

An Ode To Fall

Scarecrows, Leaves, Pumpkins.  Running children through the pumpkin patch finding the perfect pumpkin for them.  Round, Oblong, Small, Large, Bumpy each pumpkin is designed for the perfect kid just waiting to be picked.  Crows flying around wondering why there are people dressed oddly standing perfectly still in the fields.  Changing colors from green to reds, yellows, oranges, browns floating their way down to the ground.  Corn mazes, Hay mazes.  Trying to find where the ending is, running through the maze going this way and that way just searching for the end.  Costumes, Naked Trees, Decorations, Masked Parties.  Dressing up as sometimes your hearts desire or just what decides to be funny.  As the leaves drop the trees become naked settling down for the winter.  Decorating the house with skeltons, spider webs, leaves, candles.  Spider Webs, Candy, Parties.  Passing out candy to everyone who comes to the door or for the person passing out the candy.  Parties watching horror films with eating candy and pizza with costumes galore.  It is FALL!!!!

It's that time of year

It this time of year again the sun is rising later and later every day.  It's to the point where I get to start watching sunrises every day.  I like this time of year.  It's beginning to be my favorite time of year even over winter.  I love the changing of the leaves from green to red, oranges, and yellows.  I love the rain.  I love everything about it.

Place Settings

The guest book...we got to take our fingerprint and make leaves with our name by our fingerprint.

They had cupcakes instead of a cake. Always fun and of course delicious.  I had a Cookies and Cream Cupcake and Bill had a Chocolate Peanut Butter Cupcakes as well as Red Velvet Cupcake but of course there were very, very many different kinds.  Yuuuuuummmmm!!!!!!

Reception

First Dance

Father/Daughter Dance

The reception was short, fast, and to the point.  Everything was bang, bang, bang, done.  The food, cutting the cupcake, toasts, tossing the bouquet, tossing the garter, the first dance, and lastly the father daughter dance.  All of those were right after one another.  It was amazing how fast everything was.  The pictures, I'm sorry aren't the best but they still serve the point.  Another first for me was the garter toss, not the actual toss but I have never seen the groom go under the dress entirely searching for the garter.  It was so funny to watch and she had the best expressions on her face.  I was also wonderfully able to get Bill to dance with me.  It was pretty but we had so much fun dancing together.

The Wedding Ceremony

There were many different things that happened that I have never seen before in a wedding ceremony.  It was beautiful of course like every other wedding.  It started out normal enough then it was mentioned that Rebecca had signed a covenant with her parents that she would be abstinent and she gave her parents back the promise ring that they had given her.  Second, they had written there vows but still repeated them after the pastor read them.  Derek's vows were very long but all very nice and wonderful however the only part that I really remember is that we vowed that he would be her knight forever.  Now that might not mean much to other people but if you know him it makes all the sense in the world.  He belongs to a re-enactment battle group so it was a wonderful statement that was made as well as funny.  Lastly, they did a sand ceremony but this one was different then I have seen before.  Each immediate family member came up and poured sand into a jar with Rebecca and Derek last.  Each side of the family had a different color; blue, tan, and green and then Rebecca and Derek had black and white sand.  It was a wonderful ceremony and so mnay things that I have never seen before but that were all wonderful.

Pre-Wedding Pictures

Pre-wedding pictures.  Rebecca was absolutely gorgeous yesterday.  Her dress looked wonderfully on her.  She amazed me by doing her own hair, which granted she is a beautician but it was amazing watching her at work.  They got married at Center Place (can't remember exactly what is called) in Spokane.  Derek was standing by a waterfall outside waiting for Rebecca to walk down for him to finally see her.

Ikea Shopping

Ikea shopping.  Bill had never been there so as we were heading through Portland we decided to stop by.  Bill didn't really like it because he thought everything was cheaply put together but he loved the ideas that we could get from all the different scenes.  Since our house is pretty much decorated though we really only have a need for small things.  I made some fun purchases.  I finally got my wok, spice rack, as well as a glass jar for spaghetti.  I also got place mats from Target so when Bill and I eat at the table it will be a nice scene.

It makes me think...

It makes me wonder seeing all the old delapidated buildings along the highway, what happened to them?  Who lived there?  Why did they leave?  The first three pictures are from our trip to Nevada and the last one is from our trip to Spokane.

There are always so many houses, building, or even mines along the way to many destinations, even just for a quick drive around town that are old and very much abandoned.

I always wonder what really happened.  What was the history?  When was it built?  When was it abandoned?  So many questions with no answers.

It also amazes me how fast a building can go back to nature.  It's fun to see even though it raises so many questions.  It is also fun to come up with stories on what happened and why they left.

Outlandish Pictures

Today at the Jetty.

The Jetty

The Jetty.  It was date night.  We got some food from the deli; sandwich for bill, salads for me and drove down to the Jetty.  We ate our food with the view of the bay meeting the ocean.  When we were finished we walked down to the end of the Jetty.  It was extremely loud when we got to the end with the bouy was going off to warn the coming boats so they don't run into the jetty.  As we were down at the end it the waves started to get bigger and were crashing against the jetty forming a little spray.  It was fun to watch all the waves coming in.  It was wonderful.

Instead of Game Night

Game Night turned into a stroll to the river to watch the fish jump and then into a wonderful bonfire in our backyard with our dogs relaxing taking in the sights of the rising moon.

The moon rose extremely fast that night.  It was amazing it started as a sliver just above the mountains and in about 5 minutes the moon was clear abover the mountain.

It was a great night spent with my husband and my dogs!!  Life is good!!!!

Week One Down

Our first week is done.  Our nights have helped tremedously.  Each day was fun.
James Bond book, Mouse Trap and Jenga, Mountain Date Night, and lastly Movie Night (which turned into Top Shot Night).

It has been fun and onto our second week.

We have decided that before our nights we would eat dinner together at the dinner room table. Tonight I made Chicken, Golden Potatoes, Goat Cheese, Spinach, Mushrooms, and Green Onions.  It was completely delicious.  You mix the chicken with the goat cheese and green onions.  The mix you put on top of the potato and then the spinach is really just a salad with the mushrooms that I sauteed.

We were only able to do a few pages of the book because Bill had a headache but it was still incredibly great to spend time with Bill.

Ballet, Ballet, More Ballet

I got the idea from a friend to buy season tickets to something in the arts.  She bought opera tickets, I wanted ballet tickets.  Opera, I don't think is my thing.  However ballet is fabulous.  I wanted it to be my Christmas present this year season tickets.  There are 7 preformances that I get to go to.  One in October, two in December, one in February, two in March, one in April, and one unknown still because there are multiple dates.

I'm completely excited about the tickets.  I slightly feel bad for Bill but only a little since he has to accompany me and it's not his thing.  However, inside I'm jumping up and down in joy to do something together!!!  Now I'm thinking that I need to do something for Bill.  Something that he likes to do.  I don't know what but I will try to think of something.

Mountain Date Night

I'm so amazed that people can just jump off of such high places.  Sad that, that was my first thought as I looked down at the waves crashing onto the rocks.  My second thoughts were of the fact that it was beautiful looking down at the waves and the rocks almost mesmerized by its beauty.

I'm not sure if this really captures the view that it has been the last week but I love that the fog forms almost a half moon around our towns.  It stays in the ocean but almost like a force field keeps it far away until night arrives.  The clouds always look mesmerizing and terrifying.

Bill walking the sidewalk towards me.  The mountain has some insane cliffs but is beautiful none the less.
Bill and I went on our date night tonight.  We got pizza at Marzanos and took it to the mountain.  We sat on the rock wall and ate our pizza over looking the ocean and the shore.  It is quite an amazing place that we live in I must say.  I honestly think that where we live is one of the most beautiful places to live and be.  So close to the ocean, mountains, rivers, pretty much anything you can imagine.  It was wonderful to over look the ocean while we were eating and enjoy each others companies.  It was a great night.

Midnight in Paris

Girls night tonight...Movie was Midnight in Paris.

It was the first movie that I have ever seen where they used time travel differently.  Time travel only at midnight in a certain spot of the city.  Time travel where you can go night after night to the same era.  A different view that was wildly entertaining that put to mind good points of wishing you could be in a different time and place, as the main character travels to his vision of the perfect time in history night after night.

Everyone has it the time and place where they wish they could be instead of the here and right now.  Everyone has an imagination of what it would be like.  Who they would meet, the places they would see.  Not many, probably think of the actual time and place.  What it was really like.  They have a love affair with the era and think of only the good things that might not have actually happened like they happen in the movies.  I am one of those.  I tend to think of the 1700's to the 1800's as the time and place that I would love to be.  I have my love affair with Jane Austen's world as she writes it.  With the world of class, respect, the propriety, the dresses, the castles.  In my world though I wouldn't be the servant, I would be the woman of money.  Yes, I'm sure this isn't and probably wouldn't be the case but no one thinks of themselves as being the worker in their world.  I never think of the fact that I probably wouldn't actually like it because there was no actual bathrooms, that I would be in a dress all day long, never being able to run and laugh and play because of inpropriety but it's my love affair.  I see only what I want to see and think about, but thats the case with I'm sure so many people.

Running away from the present to the past where they think that life was better.  Little does anyone know that most likely it was even harder to get by.  Harder to get around.  Harder work then the here and now.  I might want to go back to those days of the 1700 and 1800's but I would only like to visit.  Not to stay.  I like the era that I'm in, the people that I know, and I like seeing the changes that comes with life.  I don't want to relive the past, I want to write the future.

More Then Just A Game Night

Game night turned into such a different night then I thought.  We ended up not having dinner but we played games.  Oh did we play games.  We played Mousetrap and Jenga.  Mousetrap twice, I won once Bill won once; Jenga once, Bill won.  I think that the whole reason of losing at Jenga is the laughter.  Oh the laughter.  You just never know when its going to come down.  The anticipation, holding your breath, smiling when you can't believe that it didn't go down when you took out that last piece.

Afterwards we decided to walk down to the river.  It was extremely peaceful down there.  The sunset and the colors were beautiful.  We got to see an otter, fish jumping, and of course bugs.  I'm so glad that I decided to take my camera.  The last shot isn't the best one but as we walked back to the house Molly, the deer and her two babies, Jack and Jill came walking by.

It was just a wonderful night spent with Bill.

Game Night

So tonight is Game Night.

Tonight we will play a game maybe a few and eat fun food.  Food that is so incredibly fun that it is pretty much only food that you have while you are watching a football game or having a party.  Fun food.  Potato skins, Nachos, Chips and Dip, Fondue.  Of course I'm not saying that I'm going to make all of those fun foods tonight but some of them.

I'm excited for tonight.  Excited for the second day of our new routine.

Truth Time

OK the truth.  Truth is Bill and I even though we love each other sometimes it feels like we just live together.  The past few weeks I have been very snappy towards Bill and unfortunately I hate the fact that I have been like that.  The good thing that came out of it was I had a breakdown and cried a lot.  Bill went and got a devotional book and we talked.  We have come out with a schedule of things to do every night of the week, Monday through Friday.

Monday Night - BOOK NIGHT - We are starting out reading a James Bond book that I love.
Tuesday Night - GAME NIGHT - We are going to eat fun food while playing a game
Wednesday Night - Bill has fire practice so we aren't doing anything.
Thursday Night - DATE NIGHT - We are just going to go somewhere, anywhere and just be together
Friday Night - MOVIE NIGHT - We are going to pick a movie watch it and eat popcorn or ice cream

We have also started going through the devotional book.  I really like it.  It's called Closer.

I'm excited about our nights and I'm glad that something good came out of something bad.
